It might not work for a big group of friends, but I would consider using this feature for a smaller group of friends, like my old roommates from college. To me, I know I only want to spend a certain amount of time each day on social media activity, so I try to limit myself -- the more outlets I try, the more likely that I'll get sucked into them. So I'm more than okay sticking to my tried-and-true favorites. However, as the blog points out, I think it's hugely dependent on your purpose. If you're on the cutting edge of the latest services and technologies, I see why it'd be worthwhile to try out all the variations on each social media theme. For me, though, there's no need -- for instance, I know I don't want to be on a geolocation service if none of my friends are, so I'll wait till I hear lots about it and then try it. This may make me stubborn, and it may cause me to be out-of-the-loop at times, but it keeps me from becoming overwhelmed by the constantly changing and advancing technology.

I think this is going to be extremely useful in fi...

I think this is going to be extremely useful in finding vendors.
